Grind Your Own Poultry or Meat

If you have a recipe that calls for ground poultry or meat and all you have on hand is a solid piece of poultry or meat, there is no need to rush out to the store or to choose another recipe. You can grind any poultry or meat using the Saladmaster Machine! Simply freeze the poultry or meat - if not already frozen - and use Cone #2 of your Saladmaster Machine to grind your own.

How to Make Zest

How to Make Zest

When a recipe calls for orange or lemon zest, it means the thin, brightly colored outermost layer of the citrus fruit’s peel. The zest contains most of its aromatic essential oils and is a lively flavor source.

When grating citrus peel, use just the outer, colored potion. The white part, called the pith, is bitter and should be discarded. Citrus fruits can be zested using Cone #1 on the Saladmaster® machine.

Using grated zest gives a true orange, lemon or lime flavor without the acid of the juice. Grated zest is particular desirable in vegetable, meat or fish dishes, and in baked goods.

Saladmaster Food Guide

The Saladmaster® Machine “food guide” is an improved feature that makes cutting easier than ever and enables you to make perfect cuts of fruits and vegetables.  The primary use of the food guide is for slicing.  For best results, use the No. 4 – Thin Slicer or No. 5 – Waffler.

  • Guides food directly into cutting cone at the correct angle.
  • Simple to operate…inserts easily into the top of the Saladmaster® Machine.
  • Easy to clean.
  • Eliminates waste…perfect for clean, even cuts.

Simply place food upright and hold firmly against the “food guide.”  Exert downward pressure as you turn the Machine handle.  Turning the handle at varying speeds will produce precise cuts.

Canning with Saladmaster

Many people still enjoy good, old-fashioned home canned foods.  The Saladmaster® Machine prepares foods more attractively for canning and saves many hours of work over the old hand cutting methods.  In addition to reducing work time, the Saladmaster® Machine will save food as well, as peeling is unnecessary.  Not peeling away the skins of fruits and vegetables allows you to retain the healthful, body building vitamins and minerals.

Because the Saladmaster® Machine is so quick and easy to use, it also saves you time and energy.  The combination of all of these efficiencies allows you advantage of the monetary savings possible through home canning of plentiful fruits and vegetables.
