Homestyle Nebraska Runzas

Warm, soft, and filled with savory goodness – these homemade runzas are Midwest comfort in every bite!

Ingredients:

• 2½ cups flour
• 1 tsp sugar
• 1 packet instant yeast
• ¾ cup warm milk
• 2 tbsp melted butter
• 1 egg
• ½ lb ground beef
• 1 cup shredded cabbage
• ¼ cup chopped onion
• Salt & pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Mix flour, sugar, and yeast. Stir in milk, butter, and egg. Knead until smooth and let rise for 1 hour.
2. Brown ground beef with onion, add cabbage, season well, and cook until soft. Cool filling slightly.
3. Divide dough, roll into circles, and fill with meat mixture. Fold and seal.
4. Place on baking sheet, seam side down. Let rise for 20 minutes.
5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
